Installation

Installation kit (Note: The USB power adapter must be provided by the purchaser.)

Before connection, you should review placement to provide full coverage of the work area whilst not affecting axis motion. This will be a process of trial and error to get the best placement of the Flame Guardian. Suggest using a cigarette lighter to test operation.

Note: Flame Guardian will need to be mounted in a place where it is not exposed to direct sunlight.

Connect USB cable to Flame Guardian

    • Cable selection guide:-
      • For Small Diode Lasers and K40 Lasers - Recommended is a 2 meter USB-A to USB-C cable.
      • For Larger Machines (1300 x 900): Recommended is a 3 or 5 meter USB-A to USB-C cable. (Measure your cable run before ordering)

Connect other end of USB cable to PC or USB power adapter.

Once you are happy with the position of the Flame Guardian, prepare the double sided tape for permanent installation to your machine. (A good location is beside the Lightburn camera if you have one)

Now is the time to organize cables to keep them out of the way whilst the machine is in operation. Ensure there is an unobstructed view of the cutting area. Utilize the included cable ties and sticky mounts to secure the cables neatly.

Configuration: Fine tuning the Flame Guardian is possible with our configurator application to customize settings to suit specific use cases and individual requirements. For most users the default setting will work great.

Effective Coverage: A single Flame Guardian effectively monitors laser work areas measuring up to 1300mm x 900mm. However, be aware that there might be small zones where the Flame Guardian cannot detect flames. If concerned about these blind spots, additional Flame Guardians can be purchased to ensure comprehensive coverage and eliminate potential blind spots.

Follow these steps to ensure an efficient installation and optimized performance of the Flame Guardian.

Note: Flame Guardian will self learn the ambient IR light levels throughout the day, so you never need to re-calibrate so adjust for minor changes in IR. If you open a door or let more IR light in, just press the re-teach button to manually calibrate to the new IR levels.

Flame Guardian is sensitive to sunlight, ensure to use out of direct sunlight.
